Former IPS officer known as real life ‘Singham’, K. Annamalai, joined the BJP in the presence of the party’s National General Secretary P Muralidhar Rao, National Spokesperson Sambit Patra and Tamil Nadu BJP President Dr. L. Murugan at a small joining ceremony in Delhi.
P Muralidhar Rao welcomed Mr. Annamalai and said that his joining the party would further strengthen the party foothold in Tamil Nadu and strengthen Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s hands.
BJP Tamil Nadu President Dr. L. Murugan said that of late there has been a lot of people from different parties and other eminent people like doctors, advocates, educationalists, joining the BJP in Tamil Nadu. “All of them are of the firm belief that it is only Prime Minister Narendra Modi who has been changing people’s lives for the better. In this light, ex IPS and young, bold and upright officer who remains an inspiration for youngsters has joined the party. I welcome him heartily on behalf of the party.”
Delivering a short speech, Mr. Annamalai began quoted a Thirukkural – Kural (couplet) 382 of the Iraimaatchi (The Greatness of a King) chapter.
அஞ்சாமை ஈகை அறிவூக்கம் இந்நான்கும் எஞ்சாமை வேந்தர்க் கியல்பு.
Meaning “Courage, a liberal hand, wisdom, and energy: these four
are the qualities that a king should have” and expressed his admiration for Prime Minister Modi.
He said that he will bring in the nationalist spirit in Tamil Nadu.
As soon as he ended, a press member from audience had asked if he has got any assurance of a ticket to contest in the upcoming Assembly elections to which Mr. Annamalai replied that he is loyal foot soldier of the party and has joined without any conditions. I am here to carry out the duties assigned to me by our party leaders.
