A significant shift has been observed in the voting patterns of government employees and teachers involved in election duties in Tamil Nadu, with many opting for the National Democratic Alliance led by the Bharatiya Janata Party. This preference has resulted in the BJP alliance securing the second position in postal voting.
The dissatisfaction among government employees and teachers, stemming from unmet demands by the Tamil Nadu government, has resonated in the elections. Typically, the DMK garners a larger margin in postal votes, but this time, there’s been a departure from the norm.
In addition to government employees and teachers involved in the election-related activities, elderly individuals over 85 years of age and differently abled persons also participated in postal voting, contributing to a total of 3 lakh postal votes.
Contrary to previous trends, other political parties have gained significant support in this election. The BJP alliance emerged victorious in the postal ballots in South Chennai and Theni constituencies.
Of the total registered postal votes, the DMK alliance received 1,11,150 votes, the BJP alliance garnered 62,707 votes, the ADMK alliance secured 50,241 votes, and the Naam Tamilar Party received 24,318 votes. This marks the first instance where the BJP alliance has garnered a substantial number of postal votes in Tamil Nadu.
