Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Tamil Nadu state president Nainar Nagenthran has sparked widespread controversy after making remarks widely described as crass and uncivilised about Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay and his mother during a party event in Chennai.
The comments came at the launch of the “Ore Nadu 2.0” monthly magazine and its digital edition at the BJP state headquarters, Kamalalayam. Nagenthran was responding to a recent remark by Chief Minister Vijay in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. Vijay had mocked former Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s electoral defeat with saying “Unga Appa Inga Than Iruparu Nu Sonnanga. Enga Un Appa Va Kanum?” which translates to “They told your father would be there here only but I can’t spot him. Where is your father?”
Nainar Nagenthran referring to this Vijay’s speech of taking a jibe at MK Stalin said: “In the Assembly he is searching ‘where is the father?, where is father?’ Only if he goes home and asks his mother will she tell him who the father is. How will he find the father by searching in the Assembly? This is the kind of people who are ruling..”

This is not the first time Nagenthran’s comments involving Vijay’s personal life have caused a stir. In February 2026, he faced backlash for suggesting the then-TVK leader should “come out of Trisha’s house” (referring to actress Trisha Krishnan) while questioning his political experience. Nagenthran later expressed regret for those remarks.
