As more information is coming out into the alleged corrupt malpractices of Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, the Supreme Court asked former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh to file a petition with the Bombay High Court regarding the matter, reports Times of India.
Singh, in his submission with the SC, had sought a CBI inquiry against Deshmukh into the latter’s alleged corruption and misuse of political office.
On Wednesday (24 March), the apex court had termed the allegations levelled by Singh against Maharashtra Home Minister and NCP leader Anil Deshmukh as “very serious” and had asked Mukul Rohatgi, the lawyer representing Singh in the SC, why he had not approached Bombay High Court with the plea.
Before Singh was transferred from his post as Mumbai city police commissioner, he had written a letter to CM Uddhav Thackeray alleging that Deshmukh had asked arrested cop Sachin Vaze to extort money from restaurants and bars in Mumbai.
As per the allegation made by Singh in his letter, Deshmukh had given Vaze a target of ₹100 crore a month to be collected for his party. But the letter contained more incendiary information as Singh also says that Deshmukh had interfered in the former Dadra and Nagar Haveli MP Mohan Delkar’s suicide case to gain political mileage.
