Sasikala’s nephew TTV Dhinakaran came out and stated on Monday that the former general secretary of the AIADMK is to be released on 27th.
“Just as we expected… Chinnamma (Sasikala) will be released (from prison) day after tomorrow, 27-01-2021,” Dhinakaran said in a tweet.
Sasikala was recently reported to have tested positive for COVID-19 and is said to be recovering. In addition to this, her sister-in-law J Ilavarasi Saturday also tested positive for the virus. She is likely to undergo treatment at the Victoria Hospital in Bengaluru, where Sasikala is admitted. Notably, Ilavarasi will reportedly have to spend some more days in the Bengaluru Central Prison. This has been based on the total number of days they have spent in the prison in the DA case, which will include their prison term in 2014, when Sasikala, along with former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, had spent 21 days in prison.
It is to be noted that the speculated date of V K Sasikala’s release clashes with the unveiling of the memorial of former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister O Paneerselvam. This memorial is right behind the memorial of former chief minister MG Ramachandran (MGR), and is said to have a knowledge park and museum.
