Arunraj, a former Income Tax Department officer once considered a close confidant of actor-turned-politician and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay, is reportedly facing internal resistance within the party over his political ambitions.
According to party sources, Arunraj, who played a role in bringing key figures like strategist John Arogyaswamy and political aide Aadhav Arjuna into TVK, had been entrusted with the post of General Secretary for Policy and Publicity after resigning from his government service.
During his tenure in the Income Tax Department, Arunraj is said to have been aware of and indirectly supported the raids conducted at Vijay’s residence, while also reporting to senior officials about his proximity to the actor.
Now seeking to contest from his home district of Salem, Arunraj is allegedly encountering strong opposition from the local district secretary and other administrative leaders in Panayur, who are blocking his bid.
Once regarded as an influential insider within Vijay’s political circle, Arunraj is now described by associates as disheartened over the pushback, signalling growing tensions in TVK’s internal dynamics ahead of potential electoral moves.
