Railways to start train services in phased manner

Indian Railways on Sunday announced that passenger services would restart in a phased manner. The first phase will see 15 trains starting from New Delhi to various places. This comes after 50 days since passenger trains were stopped in the wake of lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 15 trains (including return journey i.e., a total of 30 journeys) would start from New Delhi to the following places: Agartala, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bilaspur, Bhubanewar, Chennai, Dibrugarh, Howrah, Jammu Tawi, Madgaon, Mumbai Central, Patna, Ranchi, Secunderabad, Thiruvananthapuram.

More trains would be plied in the coming days after reserving 20000 coaches for COVID-19 care centres and around 300 trains as Shramik trains for stranded migrants.

Tickets for these trains can be booked through IRCTC. Sale of tickets through counters will remain closed. Only AC coaches would be run and fares would be equivalent to Rajdhani trains.

Reservations will start from 4 PM on May 11.
