Railways providing care to corona patients

India Railways has started to provide care to referred patients for admission in COVID Coaches in various states. On Saturday, 42 suspected patients were admitted in COVID Coaches deployed at Mau Junction in Varanasi and another 17 patients were admitted yesterday. 8 patients are already discharged after getting well.

There are 5 thousand 231 Covid Care Coaches to the states ready to serve as Indian Railways geared up to provide help to the Government in this fight against the pandemic. These Covid Care Centres Coaches are converted by the Zonal Railways are being used for very mild and mild cases. This is done by taking into consideration the availability of the medical staff at different locations. Thus Railways in a way is helping reduce the load on the Government Hospitals by contributing to the fight against the pandemic.

5 states – Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh with 960 coaches are equipped with the Covid Care Coaches with them. Out of these 960 Covid Care Coaches, 503 coaches are deployed in Delhi, 20 in Andhra Pradesh, 60 in Telangana, 372 in Uttar Pradesh, and 5 in Madhya Pradesh.

In Delhi, 503 coaches are deployed at 9 different locations. Railways have also given 2 liaison officers for each location of these coaches to assist State Government officials.
