The Congress’s allegations of police brutality during its recent protest near Jantar Mantar in New Delhi have come under scrutiny, with videos circulating on social media allegedly showing confrontations between party leaders, protesters and police personnel, including women officers.
According to a PTI report dated October 8, the Delhi Police was examining multiple mobile phone videos that allegedly showed police personnel, including women officers and constables, being assaulted during the protest. Police sources said the footage was being analysed to identify those allegedly involved and reconstruct the sequence of events.

The development comes as Congress supporters circulate videos alleging that police personnel used excessive force against women protesters. Other clips have prompted counter-allegations that some Congress leaders and demonstrators themselves engaged in physical confrontations with police personnel.
The Delhi Police was also reportedly seeking action against social media posts it considered misleading, as officials examined the footage and the competing claims surrounding the incident.
According to the PTI report, the police was considering registering an FIR under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita relating to assault on public servants, obstruction of official duties and other applicable offences.
