Priyanka Gandhi Vadra says non-Gandhi should lead the Congress

Congress Party General Secretary in-charge of Eastern Uttar Pradesh has said that a non-Gandhi should lead the party.

Earlier, at the time of his resignation as the Congress President after he led the party to a humiliating defeat, Rahul Gandhi said that a leader outside the Gandhi family should be leading the party.

“He has said that none of us should be the president of the party and I fully agree with him on this,” Priyanka said, adding, “I think that the party should find its own path also.”

Speaking about the Congress losing in the narrative battle against the BJP, Priyanka Gandhi said that Congress was slow in adapting to the new media and by the time it had accustomed to it, the damage was already done.

She also said that she is ready to take “orders” from a non-Gandhi “boss” on whether she should be given the responsibility of organisational charge for the UP and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

These comments have been made by Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in interview published in a book on next-generation leaders in India

Priyanka Gandhi’s statement comes in the light of speculations about either of the two – Rahul or Priyanka – taking over the party.
