Police thrash drunkard who asked them for a ‘free mask’ in Chennai

The public besieged the police who beat up a drunk youth who came in a two-wheeler over a dispute where the youth had asked for a free mask to a traffic policeman who was conducting a vehicle check in Guindy in Chennai. A traffic policeman beat up a youth near Olympia Techpark on the 100-foot road in Guindy, while and it was later revealed that he was assaulting a drunkard.

The public rushed to the spot and rescued him. They went on to question as to how the traffic policeman could attack him. The policeman who was standing nearby did not make any attempt to reject the claims made by the alcoholic complaining that he had been beaten by the police. The drunkard was identified to be Karthikeyan, who was found bleeding on his forehead and was given first aid. By the time he was ready to leave, the St. Thomas Mount police had taken Karthik to the police station for questioning.

Both videos went viral on WhatsApp, prompting the area’s traffic police inspector Jeevaratnam to inquire into the cause of the attack. It was revealed that when the traffic policemen tried to fine Karthikeyan, who came in without a mask and helmet, during a vehicle search. Hearing this, Karthikeyan had demanded a free mask from the policemen. This led to an argument between the traffic policeman and Karthikeyan, who was injured after that.

Meanwhile, the St. Thomas Mount Police have registered a case against Karthikeyan, who allegedly tried to stone pelt a traffic policeman who was arguing with Karthikeyan who was in a drunken stupor, in which he fell and was slightly injured when the policeman pushed him down.
