Police inspector fails to take action against DMK office bearer for illegal sand mining and felling of trees, suspended

Inspector S. Jayamani of the Thirukoshtiyur police station near Tiruppatur has been suspended for negligence and dereliction of duty as he failed to take action against a DMK office bearer involved in illegal sand mining and felling of trees.

In a raid conducted at the premises of DMK man Shanmuga Vadivelu, it was found that he was involved in illegal felling of trees as hoards of river sand and logs of trees were found.

Tashildar Jayalakshmi conducted an inspection upon receiving information that more trees had been cut down than allowed at the auction and were found in a garden on Kandaramanikkam Road.

Around 50 tipper truck sand, 450 tipper truck loamy soil were also found along with the felled trees.

Upon inquiring it was revealed that the place belonged to DMK office bearer Shanmuga Vadivelu.

Shanmuga Vadivelu is the Thirupatthur Panchayat Union Secretary belonging to the DMK.

A complaint was filed at the Thirukoshtiyur police station and a case was registered against the Shanmuga Vadivelu under non-bailable sections for illegal sand mining and tree felling.

However, the inspector incharge and the constable had failed to arrest the DMK man.

Both of them have been suspended from service.

AIADMK spokesperson Maruthu Alaguraj in his tweet asked why the DMK has not removed the man from the party even after the inspector getting suspended for not doing his duty.
