PM Modi calls for active participation of citizens and frontliners to combat stigma attached to COVID

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday during his interaction with Chief Ministers of States and Union Territories called for active participation of citizens and health workers to eliminate the stigma attached with corona virus and its patients.

Addressing the socio-emotional aspect, Prime Minister in his address through video conferencing highlighted the importance of battling fear of being afflicted and also the stigma attached by making people aware of number of persons who have recovered from the disease.  He said that the number of people who recovered from the virus is high and is increasing rapidly and added that those who contracted the disease need not panic.

He also emphasized on Jan Bhaagidari (public participation) by stressing on the importance of using masks, face cover and maintaining physical distancing.

Dr. Anjan Trikha, Chairman of Clinical Managerial Group of the COVID Centre at AIIMS, New Delhi said that people manifest anxiety over the virus as a result of overexposure to social media and unverified news. He asked people to look for verified information from authorized news agencies like All India Radio and Doordarshan and not fall prey to false news.
