Part-Time Two-Bit Politician Vijay Who Instigated People Against New Airport At Parandur Goes In Chartered Flight To Coimbatore, His Fans Vandalize Coimbatore Airport

Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader and part-time-politician Vijay is facing sharp criticism over his  glaring contradiction between his public stance and personal actions. The actor, who recently visited Ekanapuram village to express solidarity with farmers opposing land acquisition for Chennai’s second airport project in Parandur—positioning himself as an advocate for environmental protection has come under fire for choosing a private chartered flight to travel to Coimbatore for his party event.

Adding to the controversy, the Coimbatore airport witnessed chaotic scenes as hundreds of TVK supporters gathered to welcome him. Despite police warnings and restrictions limiting the number of greeters to 50, a large crowd showed up, parking vehicles haphazardly and reportedly damaging barricades grills and trolleys at the terminal entrance. It is also alleged that local party functionaries showed little interest in cooperating with airport authorities or informing them about the expected turnout. No effort was made from the party’s side to ensure precautionary measures or proper crowd management—much like overexcited fans, they remained completely unresponsive. The disorderly scenes disrupted normal airport operations and left parts of the premises in disarray, prompting criticism over poor crowd management and the lack of accountability from the party.

Vijay had announced a two-day TVK Booth Committee Meeting on 21 April, scheduled for April 26 and 27 at SNS College of Technology, Coimbatore. The event is expected to host around 16,000 booth-level representatives from seven districts across Tamil Nadu, as the party ramps up its grassroots outreach.

While the political gathering is being seen as a significant step in TVK’s organizational buildup, the manner of Vijay’s arrival and the disruption caused by his supporters have sparked debates over the sincerity of his political commitments and the discipline within his political outfit.
