Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) chief Thirumavalavan has sharply criticized Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay, mocking his political journey by comparing it to his own. Thirumavalavan said, “After 35 years of hard work, we have earned recognition as a state party. Some people spend their lives acting in cinema until they’re in their 50s or 60s, seeking wealth, happiness, and luxury, and when their film careers are over, they jump into politics and gain recognition.”
This comment came after Thirumavalavan met with the families of victims from a cracker factory explosion on 24 February 2025, in Boothinatham, near Kambainallur in Dharmapuri district, offering condolences and financial assistance of one lakh rupees to each family.
During the memorial meeting, Thirumavalavan continued, “They make money through cinema, enjoy a comfortable life, and then enter politics. They don’t need to travel from town to town, giving speeches. They can start a party and gain power right away. But I’ve reached where I am after dedicating the last 35 years of my life—sacrificing sleep, food, and youth. I’ve faced tremendous loss to be recognized as a state party, all while following the principles of leaders like Ambedkar, Periyar, and Marx.”
Thirumavalavan emphasized his clarity of principles, asserting that no one could buy him. He added, “If I were an average politician, this party wouldn’t have received recognition. There will be no political movement in the 2026 assembly elections without VCK. I’m not saying this out of arrogance; this is what political experts are predicting.”

It is noteworthy that during the inaugural conference of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) on 27 October 2024, party chief Vijay announced his willingness to share power with alliance partners who support him. This issue had been raised by Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) leader Thirumavalavan.
