The Pakistani cricket all-rounder Shahin Afridi has tested positive for coronavirus. After having been unwell for a while, he tested positive on Saturday and took to Twitter to announce this news.

“I’ve been feeling unwell since Thursday; my body had been aching badly. I’ve been tested and unfortunately I’m covid positive. Need prayers for a speedy recovery, InshaAllah,” he tweeted.

Afridi, who represented Pakistan in 27 Tests, 398 One-day Internationals (ODIs) and 99 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), and is famous for his big-hitting, retired from international cricket in 2017.He is also actively involved in his charity work as the head of a foundation named after him. Following the coronavirus outbreak, he was seen outdoors on many occasions, mainly for his charity work.

Tweets have been flooding twitter following the announcement from his own teammates as well as from celebrities all over the world, wishing him a speedy recovery. At least two Pakistani first-class players have died from the infection with leg-spinner Riaz Sheikh passing away in Karachi earlier this month.

Earlier in May, Afridi made news when he made remarks on Kashmir and Prime Minister Modi. The entire Indian cricket fraternity objected to his comments on Kashmir and vile comments on the Indian Prime Minister.
