OPS Calls For Reclaiming ADMK Following The Party’s Dismal Performance In LS Polls Under EPS

Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and the Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhaga Cadres Right Retrieval Organisation’s coordinator O Panneerselvam shared a press release calling to reclaim the party following the party’s dismal performance in the recently concluded Parliamentary elections.

In the press release, he wrote, It’s easy to snap a single stick. It is difficult to break the bunch.”

It is a sin to continue to console and accustom our cadre to failure.

“All the gold that came from our mother’s path, tomorrow will be ours if we stay on one path and follow the right path.

Let’s use the magic words of the founder, Puratchi Thalaivar, Makkal Thilagam as a medicine. Let’s forget our conscience and unite one and a half million volunteers to make our victory history. Let us be prepared for any sacrifice to restore the party that our honorable leader Amma took to the top and the government that she entrusted with unity.”

In 2023, OPS was expelled from the party and the party’s general council named Edappadi Palanisami (EPS) its sole leader. The ECI also recognised this election and allowed this faction to use the twin leaves symbol.

OPS contested as an independent under the jackfruit symbol from Ramanathapuram aligning with the NDA and finished second, losing to IUML’s Navas Kani. In a bizarre event, at least 5 people named OPS contested as independents for the same seat. These namesake candidates had collectively secured over 8,000 votes. Leading the group were Panneerselvam s/o Ochapan and M Panneerselvam, each receiving over 2,000 votes, followed by Panneerselvam s/o Oyyadevar with more than 1,700 votes.

It is noteworthy that ADMK under EPS was pushed to fourth place in many constituencies, even behind smaller parties like Seeman’s Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK).
