NTK Chief Seeman Simps For Muslim Vote Bank Echoing DMK Narratives, Labels Hindu Protesters Against Animal Sacrifice At Thiruparankundram Hills As ‘Divisive Forces’

If one thought that Naam Tamilar Katchi chief Seeman was speaking for Hindus, well, they are wrong, especially after he clarified his stand on the Thiruparankundram issue.

Seeman has made controversial remarks following the Thiruparankundram mass protest and this has raised eyebrows among Hindus in Tamil Nadu. Previously, Seeman had tried to garner attention of Muslims by praising Islamist extremists, even calling them father-like figures to gain the Muslim vote. Now, in his statement on the Thiruparankundram issue, Seeman has criticized Murugan devotees who opposed Islamist groups like the SDPI and other Muslim political parties which had asserted their rights to sacrifice animals at the sacred Thiruparankundram Murugan hilltop, an action that goes against the temple’s history and religious practices.

Seeman, who calls Murugan the “great-grandfather” of Tamils, has made misleading statements, aligning himself with the DMK’s narrative falsely claimed that the protest at Thiruparankundram was about opposing Muslim worship of the hilltop dargah, when, in reality, it was a protest against the right to sacrifice animals at this Hindu sacred site. What added fuel to the fire was the audacious move of DMK ally IUML Ramanathapuram MP Navaskani, who recently visited the temple and claimed that the dargah was under the Waqf Board. This claim effectively implied indirectly that the entire hill was under Waqf Board jurisdiction. Navaskani’s supporters also ate non-vegetarian food near the temple foothills, which angered the devotees and led to a large-scale opposition gathering.

Despite all these facts, Seeman—who portrays himself as a devout Murugan follower—has failed to address the real issues at hand. Instead, he has pandered to Muslim voters, distorting the grievances of Hindus seeking to protect the sanctity of their temple. Seeman’s rhetoric paints the legitimate concerns of Hindu devotees as divisive, all while neglecting the true motives behind the protest.

In a statement on his official X account, Seeman started by appeasing Muslim vote bank by stating, “Your religion is yours; My religion is mine. (Al-Quran 109:6),” Then expressing his disappointment, stated, “It is very disheartening to see the confusion and conflicts that have arisen among the Tamil people who follow two religions in worship in the Tamil hill of Thiruparankundram, located in the land of Madurai, where Sangam raised Tamil. It is a sad and unfortunate incident that there has been a sudden emergence of contradictions in the worship that has been going on without any problems for more than 1000 years. In Tamil Nadu, which is a symbol of religious harmony and brotherhood, ethnic Tamils should never give way to the machinations of religious organizations that try to create religious conflicts. We, the Tamils, who have been living on this soil for ages as children of one mother; We must realize that unity is our strength. It is essential to never lose the pure love, brotherhood, and sense of religious harmony that exists among us, and to stand united in the field to thwart the conspiracies of religious forces. The welcoming of Muslim relatives by placing banners at consecration ceremony, the provision of water and food to those who visit temples, and the worship of people of other religions at dargahs and churches are proof of the harmony that exists in Tamil Nadu. The activities of religious organizations that seek to disrupt it, unleash divisive schemes, and hunt for votes are against social peace. When people of both religions have been worshiping and praying on the Thiruparankundram hill for hundreds of years without giving room for even the slightest disagreement, how has unnecessary tension arisen now? Who are the people behind it? Why is the DMK government supporting petty politics that plays politics on religion instead of the welfare of the people? Is the DMK government just watching the BJP grow? If, at the very beginning, they had paid more attention, consulted both sides and reached a unanimous decision, would such a tense situation have arisen? Is the Dravidian model to make the problem worse, politicize by BJP completely, and watch it for fun? Shame! You great people who are fighting today saying, ‘Wherever there is a hill, there will be a Kumaran’! Where did you go when the hills all over the Tamil land were being cut down and demolished one by one every day and the mineral resources were being plundered? All of them. Why didn’t you come to the streets and fight to protect them? Why does the devotion and devotion that comes from this mountain not extend to those mountains and hills? Why did you pass by without saying anything when we were fighting against the BJP government that rules the Union of India and the DMK government that rules Tamil Nadu for mining the mountains in our land and smuggling mineral resources? Why did our voice of demand to protect the mountains not fall on your ears at that time? The biased speech of the people’s representatives, who should be responsible for both sides, has led to further complications in the issue. This has now opened the door for religious forces to exploit it. Overall, the DMK government’s complete indifference is the main reason for the tension among the people of Madurai. You have your religion; I have my religion, says the Holy Quran! ‘Your religion is great, worship it! My religion is also great, give way!’ is a humane religious maxim that Tamils have been following for ages. There is a Tamil proverb that wherever there is a hill, there is a Kumaran; Jesus, who started the sermon on that day, intending to give advice to his disciples, climbed the Calvary hill and stood there with his hands outstretched; the Holy Quran was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad on Mount Hira; Govardhana Hill is dedicated to Lord Krishna, Kailash Hill to Lord Shiva, and Parvat Hill to Goddess Parvati. All religions associate nature with God. Worship is the expression of the light of love. Therefore, the Tamil land and people should never give space to those who try to create violence through worship and turn Tamil Nadu into a land of sectarianism. Even in the days when religious riots took place all over the Indian continent and thousands of innocent lives were sacrificed, and the country itself was turned into hell, the land of the Tamils alone, due to its thousands of years of cultural maturity and human kindness, remained peaceful and set an example for the world by preventing religious conflicts. Therefore, my dear Tamils, speaking one language, born in one soil, and living as a people from one mother, can resolve the religious problem that has been imposed on us by talking to each other. I request the religious leaders on both sides to immediately start taking initiatives for this! Let us proclaim the truth that the Thiruparankundram hill belongs to all Tamil people Let us make the world realize that the land of the Tamils will never allow religious conflicts to arise!!!”
