Notorious Rowdy Anbu Killed In Brutal Gang Attack Near Srirangam Temple

In a shocking incident, a notorious rowdy named Anbu was brutally murdered by a gang of six individuals near the Srirangam Temple parking area on 24 January 2025. The attack occurred while he was returning home from his regular gym session.

Anbu, a resident of Lakshmi Nagar in Srirangam, Trichy, was known for his daily fitness routine. On the day of the incident, he had visited a gym in the Thiruvannai area and was on his way home when the attack took place.

According to witnesses, the gang intercepted Anbu in the Melur area and attacked him with weapons, including knives. Despite his attempts to escape, the assailants pursued him for nearly 500 meters and ultimately cornered him in the parking area of the Srirangam Temple. The gang surrounded him and hacked him to death.

Local residents alerted emergency services, and Anbu was rushed to a nearby hospital. However, doctors declared him dead upon arrival. His body was found in a pool of blood, causing shock and grief among his family members and neighbors.

Following the news of the murder, Anbu’s relatives staged a road blockade, demanding immediate action against the perpetrators. More than 10 people gathered in front of the government hospital, protesting and urging the police to expedite the investigation.

Preliminary reports suggest that Anbu was associated with Dileep, another notorious rowdy in Trichy. Anbu had several criminal cases against him, leading authorities to investigate whether the murder stemmed from previous enmities.

The incident has caused unrest in the area, with police intensifying efforts to identify and apprehend the assailants. Investigations are ongoing, with officers examining multiple angles, including possible gang rivalries.
