NOTA Polls 3X More Votes Than Congress In Sikkim Assembly Elections, Cong Gets A Disastrous 0.32% Vote Share

The Congress party experienced significant setbacks in the recently announced results of the Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim assembly elections. In Arunachal Pradesh, the Congress secured only one seat, while in Sikkim, the party failed to open its account, marking a substantial disappointment.

In Sikkim, Congress’s performance was particularly abysmal, receiving much fewer votes than the None of the Above (NOTA) option. NOTA garnered 0.99% of the votes, surpassing Congress’s 0.32%. This represented a decline from the previous state assembly elections in 2019, where Congress had achieved a vote share of 0.77%.

The Sikkim Assembly elections, comprising 32 seats, saw the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) win decisively with 31 seats, leaving only one seat for the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF). In contrast, the Congress did not manage to secure any seats in Sikkim. The BJP, however, captured 5.18% of the total votes polled.

In Arunachal Pradesh, the BJP dominated the elections, winning 46 out of 60 assembly seats. Other parties such as the National People’s Party (NPP) won five seats, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) secured three, the People’s Party of Arunachal (PPA) took two, and independents claimed three seats. Congress managed to secure only the Bameng assembly seat, where its candidate, Kumar Y, won by a margin of 635 votes.

Netizens had a field day trolling the Congress for its terrible performance in the state.
