Natarajan gets a rousing reception at his hometown

Natarajan, who returned home after the Test series against Australia, was greeted with cheers and fireworks at his village Chinnappampatti in Salem district.  Banners were put up all over the town to welcome Natarajan. He got out of the car and was taken in a chariot with crowds flanking on both the sides. As more than two thousand people gathered and danced and celebrated Natarajan’s arrival with songs, celebrations were in full swing across Chinnappampatti.

Meanwhile, health officials have advised Natarajan to be isolated at home for 14 days considering the pandemic.

Natarajan expressed his happiness over winning the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia on Tuesday and expressed that his dream of playing for India had come true. “The last couple of months have been surreal. My time with #TeamIndia has been the best of my life. Playing Test cricket for India was a dream. We have overcome many hurdles on this tour to win this series. Overwhelmed with your support,” Natarajan tweeted upon winning the title and reaching his hometown.

Natarajan had been chosen as a net bowler for the Australia series, but he went on to represent the country in all three formats of the game. The win was unprecedented, as all the major players had been missing in action.
