Mother who sold her own child arrested

An incident of a mother selling her own child for cash was reported in Tirunelveli district a few days back.

Ganapathy, a native of Alangulam had a dispute with his wife Roseline who along with her child left to live alone at her native place in Veeraganallur. Ganapathy had gone to meet his wife and child after 3 months. He was alarmed by the fact that the child wasn’t there. Roseline had made conflicting statements and told that the child was kidnapped. Ganesan then went on to file a complaint with the police.

When police inquired Roseline, she confessed to have sold the baby with the help of her relative N Suresh (30) to one Kumar (39) of Pallakkal for ₹50,000.

The child was handed over to multiple people during the period and was traced to a couple in Tirupur district. The child was rescued on Tuesday (June 23).

Sources say that the mother received ₹ 50,000 and nearly ₹1.7 lakh was transacted in total as a part of the deal to sell the child

Six persons, including the mother Roseline , Suresh, Kumar, Parakkathnisha, one Mookkammal (40) of Vellanguli, and one M Kannan (38) of Vickramasingapuram were arrested by the police for illegally selling her child to a person.
