Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday congratulated Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Deputy Prime Minister Benny Gantz for forming the fifth government in Israel.
The new unity government brings to end the 500 day deadlock and the longest political crisis in the country’s history. 3 back to back elections had resulted in a divisive mandate leading to constant power struggles between Netanyahu’s Likud party and Gantz’s Blue and White party.
Mazel Tov my friend @netanyahu for forming your fifth government in Israel. I wish you and @gantzbe success and look forward to continue working closely with your government to further strengthen India-Israel strategic partnership.

Under the unity agreement, Mr. Netanyahu would serve as the Prime Minister for 18 months post which his rival turned Deputy PM Gantz will take over.
Prime Minister Modi conveyed his wishes to both the leaders and added that he looks forward to forge a strong India-Israel strategic partnership.
