MHA directs AP Chief Secretary to take action Addl. DGP Sunil Kumar who had indulged in hate speech against Hindus

Based on a complaint filed by Lok Sabha MP Raghu Ramakrishna Raju, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has directed the Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary to take action against Andhra Pradesh IPS officer PV Sunil Kumar who had indulged in hate speech against Hindus and for peddling divisive communal/caste based politics through his organization ‘Ambedkar India Mission’.

The IPS officer who is the Additional Director General of Police, (Crime Investigation Department) in Andhra Pradesh Government has been accused of abusing his position by running a private organization named in violation of Section 3 of The Police Forces (Restriction of Rights) Act, 1966.

He is also accused of provoking people of Scheduled Caste by making hateful statements against Hindu religion, scriptures and Gods on social media platforms.

On 26th November 2020, on the occasion of India’s Constitution Day, he appeared on Facebook live through the official page of “Ambedkar’s India Mission” and abused Hindu Religion and Hindu Sacred scriptures like Vedas and Puranas.

In another video that is available on social media, the officer can be seen praising the British rule stating that it was the British who gave them a God to pray and built churches, built hospitals, etc and adds that it was because of them that they are able to study today.

Earlier, Legal Rights Observatory (LRO), a legal activism non-profit, had filed a complaint against the officer with the Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Secretary of Union Ministry of Home Affairs, to issue directions to the Andhra Pradesh Police to lodge an FIR against PV Sunil Kumar and conduct a detailed investigation into his finances for revealing links with national and international donors.

The MHA has asked the Chief Secretary to file an ‘Action Taken Report’ to the Ministry at the earliest.
