Man from Madurai suffers Vikram’s ‘I’ plight due to wrong diagnosis

In a traumatic incident in Madurai, a youth who went for treatment for a toe injury had a burn all over his body due to an allergy caused by the medicine given to him.

Biswajeet Mandal, a man from West Bengal, has been living in a rented house with friends on Madurai South Gate Writer Street for the past 10 years. He has been working as a jewelry designer in jewelry workshops on South Avani Main Street. He suffered a toe injury while playing cricket with friends last month.

The doctor who examined him at a private clinic in Therku Vaasal in Madurai had said that he had a fracture in his finger bone and that he should be restrained immediately and prescribed some medicine to the youth. A week after the bandage was removed, he had developed an allergy. Biswajeet had then approached the AP Dermatologist clinic in Therku Vaasal. He also had various side effects while taking the medicine given to him there.

To rectify this, he was approached for treatment at Arun Hospital in Nelpettai, where doctors who examined him recommended immediate treatment at the Madurai Apollo Hospital. He is currently receiving treatment at the Apollo Hospital in Melamadai. Biswajeet Mandal believes that this disorder is caused by the negligence of the doctor who gave the medicine for the fracture. He laments that he has spent up to ₹2 lakh on medical expenses and till now it is not known as to by what reason this skin disease.
