#MakingOfTNSanghis trends on Twitter: Netizens share why and how the became a Sanghi and Modi supporter

The hashtag “#MakingOfTNSanghis” is trending on Twitter with many Tamil people sharing how they became a Sanghi, a collaquial term referring to a devout Hindu, a subscriber of Hindutva ideology, a support of BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and everything in that spectrum. They shared how they realized the fallacies of the Dravidian ideology pointing out the hatred that is spewed against one faith to appease minorities, the double standards and the contradictions of those claiming to be champions of social justice.

A Twitterati with the username Nataraja Murthi had shared that he had attended 5 workshops by RSS in 1981, Thiruparaithurai on the banks of Kauvery river. He had gained great knowledge about our Culture and had then started Shaka’s in 12 villages in Perambalur District. He then shared that he had to shift to Kerala for employment, where he found that Sanghis were even more strong. “They just don’t bother about No’s, if something is against our Culture, they will come out to agitate forthwith (whether they r single or 10 or 100 in no’s),” he had shared.

Another netizen with the username Priya Raju shared that she was an atheist and rationalist, and therefore her entire extended family used to vote for Congress/ADMK. However, she eventually realised that pseudo-secularism is just a façade for corruption, and therefore they all shifted to supporting BJP.

A Twitter user with the name Beyond Human had shared that his idea changed during the Karuppar Kootam issue when they questioned someone’s faith, while insulting the Kanda Shashti Kavasam. He had felt it unecessary for them to question someone’s faith when it does not affect anyone.

Another user G Pradeep had shared, “I was brainwashed in my School days that EV Ramasamy Naickar and Karunanidhi were the champions of social justice and ones who eradicated casteism in TN. Maturity was when I realized that it was fake propaganda. They try to paste stickers for others work.”
