Madras High Court Declines To Ban ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ During Polls; PILs Dismissed

Advocate Seeks Ban On ‘Dhurandhar 2’ In Madras High Court Over Election Code Concerns

The Madras High Court on Friday (10 April 2026) dismissed two public interest litigation (PIL) petitions seeking to prevent the continued screening of Dhurandhar: The Revenge, starring Ranveer Singh, in Tamil Nadu until the declaration of results of the Assembly elections, as reported in The Hindu.

A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari and Justice G. Arul Murugan observed that the petitioners had neither challenged the certification granted to the film by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) nor pointed out any specific portions of the film as objectionable.

The court, noting the absence of substantive grounds in the petitions, declined to grant the relief sought and dismissed both PILs.
