M.K. Alagiri to meet supporters today to discuss next move ahead of TN Assembly elections

M.K. Alagiri, the estranged brother of DMK chief M.K. Stalin will be meeting his supporters today at Madurai to discuss strategies for the Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections.

This move of Alagiri comes days after Superstar Rajinikanth announced his decision to not take the political plunge.

The meeting has been convened by Alagiri today to get the views of his supporters on the formation of a new party. It is expected that he will make a big announcement on the occasion of his birthday, January 30.

Huge banners and hoardings that reads “Anjaa Nenjan” (fearless warrior), as Alagiri is fondly known, and “meeting with true brethren” have been put up by his supporters at the venue. The banners also read feature photos of Alagiri’s son Dhayanidhi Azhagiri who is a a Tamil film producer and distributor.

Earlier it was reported that Alagiri was in the process of registering his party and was planning to go with the name Kalaignar Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (KDMK).

Speculations of were rife during Amit Shah’s November visit to Chennai that Alagiri would be meeting the former at Hotel Leela Palace. Just a day before his visit, former DMK MP K.P. Ramalingam who is considered to be a close confidante of Alagiri joined the BJP in the presence of Dr. L. Murugan and BJP leader C.T. Ravi.

It is expected that Alagiri might float an outfit and align the the AIADMK-BJP alliance.
