Love Jihad In Bollywood: Shah Rukh Khan Posed As 'Abhinav' To Wed Gauri, Son Aryan Now Identifies as Muslim, Says Gauri Herself

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and his wife Gauri Khan’s interfaith marriage, often celebrated as one of the industry’s most enduring love stories, began with a deception. Gauri Khan herself has confirmed that the actor adopted a Hindu name, ‘Abhinav’, to convince her family that he was a Hindu boy, as her parents had reservations about their interfaith relationship. It was probably one of the many mainstream love jihad cases in the Hindi film industry.

In a conversation with designers Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla on their show First Ladies, Gauri Khan recalled the initial opposition from her family. “We were so young and then to take a decision to get married, and to a person who is going to join films, and being from a different religion. We changed his name to Abhinav so they feel he is a Hindu boy but that was really silly and very childish,” she said.

It is alleged he was courting her from the time she was 14 – grooming much?

The couple solemnised their union through three ceremonies on 25 October 1991: a Hindu wedding, a Muslim nikah, and a registered marriage. For the Hindu ceremony, Shah Rukh used the name ‘Jeetender Kumar Tulli’, a tribute to veteran actors Jeetendra and Rajendra Kumar Tulli. During the nikah, Gauri adopted the Muslim name ‘Ayesha’.

Son Aryan Khan’s Religious Identity

Gauri Khan has also spoken about the religious identity of their children, particularly eldest son Aryan Khan. In an earlier appearance on Koffee with Karan, she revealed that Aryan strongly identifies with his father’s religion. “Aryan is so into Shah Rukh that he would follow his religion, I feel. I mean, he will always say, ‘I am a Muslim’,” Gauri said.

She further recounted her mother’s reaction to this, stating, “When he tells, ‘I am a Muslim’ to my mother, she gets, ‘What do you mean?’ She doesn’t get upset, though. She is actually dealing with it. But it’s true”.

The Shah Rukh-Gauri Khan saga is not a romantic fairytale but a textbook case of love jihad, a calculated deception where a Muslim man adopts a Hindu name to infiltrate a Hindu family, marries a minor girl (Gauri was just 21, while Shah Rukh was 26), and systematically ensures the next generation identifies as Muslim. The grooming began early – when she was just 14, the deception was deliberate, and the outcome is predictable: the Hindu mother’s identity quietly disappears while the children proudly declare themselves Muslim.

This is the blueprint – fake a Hindu identity, trap the girl, confuse the family, marry, and slowly erase the Hindu lineage. It is not mutual respect; it is a quiet conquest, and it is happening across India under the guise of love.
