Lorry Drivers Attacked And Robbed On Villupuram-Nagapattinam Highway

A series of violent robberies targeting lorry drivers took place overnight on the Villupuram-Nagapattinam four-lane highway, leaving three drivers injured. The incidents occurred in M. Pudur, Kamiyampet, and Periyapattu in Cuddalore district.

According to reports, a group of miscreants on motorcycles, suspected to be under the influence of ganja, ambushed resting lorry drivers. The assailants wielded sickles, attacked the victims, and looted cash, mobile phones, and even extracted G-Pay passwords to steal money digitally. The brutality of the attack has caused shock and concern among the trucking community.

Lorry drivers, who often park their vehicles on the roadside to rest, have now become prime targets for such crimes. The repeated attacks have raised serious questions about the safety of highways and the effectiveness of law enforcement in the region.

Upon receiving complaints from the affected drivers, police arrived at the scene and launched an investigation. Authorities have assured swift action to apprehend the suspects and enhance security measures along the highway to prevent further incidents.
