Left leaders and DMK MP take part in Chinese Communist Party 100th anniversary celebrations organized by China

On Tuesday (July 27), Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury, Communist Party of India (CPI) Lok Sabha MP D Raja, DMK MP Dr. S. Senthilkumar and All India Forward Bloc central committee secretary G Devarajan participated in an online seminar hosted by Chinese ambassador Sun Weidong and CPC’s international department counsellor Du Xiaolin to mark the 100th anniversary of Chinese Communist Party.

The participation of the DMK and Communist leaders comes just an year after the Galwan Valley clashes in which 20 Indian soldiers made the supreme sacrifice protecting the border against Chinese incursions.

The event coincided with the visit of US secretary of state Antony Blinken’s maiden to India, where he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, foreign minister S Jaishankar and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.

A press release by the Chinese embassy said that China-India relations are significant to peace and prosperity of the region and the world at large and that the bilateral relations be viewed from a more comprehensive and long-term perspective.

The Chinese envoy during the virtual event said that they received more than 1,500 congratulatory messages and letters on the CPC’s centenary from over 600 political parties, including the Communist Party of India (Marxist), Communist Party of India, and the All India Forward Bloc, etc.

CPI General Secretary D Raja confirmed his participation. On the other hand, DMK MP Senthilkumar has not even uttered a word about the issue.
