A lawyer suffered serious injuries in an accident caused by a nylon rope that had been tied across a road for the Ungaludan Stalin event in Theni district.

According to police, the incident occurred near Palanichatti where a rope had been fixed across the road to regulate traffic for a camp organised in connection with Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s programme.

Ramachandran, a lawyer, was travelling on a two-wheeler with his wife when the rope tightened around his neck, causing both of them to fall. He sustained a severe neck injury and a bone fracture and was admitted to hospital for treatment. His wife escaped with minor injuries.

A complaint has been lodged against the event organisers, and an investigation is underway.
