Land Fraud Allegations Surface Against DMK MP Thanga Tamil Selvan’s Family, Distressed Farmer Allegedly Threatened

A secret video has surfaced alleging that DMK MP and Theni North District Secretary Thanga Tamil Selvan‘s son Nishant involved in a disputed land transaction that has left a farmer’s family in distress. The footage, released by Nakkheeran TV, shows heated exchanges in which threats of eviction and house demolition are allegedly made.

The allegations came from farmer Gunasekaran and his wife Selvi, residents of Allinagar in Theni district, who claim that their family was cheated in the sale of ancestral land and subsequently threatened with eviction and demolition.

The Gunasekaran family owned 3 acres and 10 cents of land in Survey Number 829. Wanting to retain 10 cents for building a house, the farmer planted bananas in one acre and 10 cents and sold the remaining 1 acre and 90 cents to buyers viz., Suresh Kumar, Anandan, Mohammed Rafiq, Sivakumar and Muthiah.

The agreed price was ₹1,85,000 per cent, totalling around ₹1.855 crore. The buyers initially paid ₹1.70 crore, with the balance ₹15.5 lakh promised verbally after registration.

However, Gunasekaran’s sisters Rajathi, Saroja, and Podhamani filed a case in the Theni District Court claiming rights over the land. While the case was pending, in April 2025, it is alleged that a two-acre portion of the disputed land was purchased in the name of Nishant, son of Thanga Tamil Selvan, through a power of attorney.

Allegations of Threats

When Gunasekaran and Selvi demanded the pending ₹15.5 lakh from the DMK MP, they allege that Thanga Tamil Selvan refused to pay unless they vacated their 10 cents of retained land along with the house.

A secretly recorded video, now circulated, shows heated exchanges where threats were allegedly issued. The family was told to leave or face consequences. He states, “Vacate the place or I will have to inform the police and do the needful. I did not buy the property from you, but from them.”

Thanga Tamil Selvan stated that if there was proof of the pending ₹15.5 lakhs, he must be given that. Since there was no written proof, he couldn’t do anything.

The farmers also allege that JCB machines and henchmen were sent to demolish their house, built at a cost of ₹50 lakh, in an attempt to seize the land completely.

The couple claimed that for three years, they had been pleading for the remaining payment but were instead pressured to vacate their land.

Gunasekaran and Selvi’s fear losing both their house and the balance money owed. The footage also shows Gunasekaran stating that he had incurred heavy expenses, including ₹25 lakh on the house, hospital bills, and wedding costs, and was desperate for the money.
