La Liga all set to resume after June 8

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has given soccer’s top flight division La Liga the green signal to resume from June 8.

All sports activities were suspended in Spain from March 12, though the clubs have resumed training since then. Although the exact date for resume hasn’t been confirmed yet, the season is touted to be restarted from June 12.

“Spain has done what it needed to do and now new horizons can open for everyone. The time has come to recover many of our daily activities. From June 8 La Liga will be able to return,” Sanchez said on Saturday.

Spain was one of the worst affected by the outbreak, with more than 28,000 deaths and more than 234,000 cases of COVID19. The death rate is steadily decreasing since the last week, with  56 deaths on Friday.

The country has also begun releasing its lockdown, with Madrid and Barcelona all geared up to allow people upto groups of 10 from Monday.
