On Sunday (September 12), Islamic jihadists killed probationary sub-inspector, Arshid Ahmad, at Khanyar, Srinagar which looked mafia hit job. However, only hours later, Police said they have identified the killer of sub-inspector Ahmad at Khanyar.
While the police have not revealed the identity of the assailant or the group behind the attack, director general of police Dilbag Singh told media said the man who killed Ahmad in cold blood has been identified and they will be brought to justice.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police have formed a team to investigate the killing of Ahmad and in a show of support against Islamic terrorism large number of people participated in his funeral.
Ahmad’s killing was caught on CCTV camera where one could clearly see the attacker carrying a small weapon who fired a gun just inches from his body as is the practice of mafias. Arshid Ahmad was a resident of the Kupwara district and after he was shot he was rushed to SKIMS in Soura where he succumbed to his injuries.
In the last few months, there has been a surge in the Kashmir Valley where policemen are the specific targets and also the killings looked like crimes committed by contract killers.
