Kerala: 5000 teachers in Kasargod and Malappuram refuse Covid vaccine citing religious beliefs

In the secular Communist-ruled state of Kerala, some 5,000 teachers have refused to take COVID vaccines citing religious beliefs. This incident has taken place in the North Kerala districts of Kasargod and Malappuram which is a Muslim-dominated area and vaccine hesitancy is common with Muslims.

As per reports, 5,000 school teachers and non-teaching staff have not even taken a single dose of Coronavirus vaccines citing religious beliefs and poor health, and even after standing instructions that unvaccinated teachers will not be allowed to take classes, the teachers and non-teaching staff have refused, Kerala state education minister V Sivankutty said.

However, in the best traditions of practicing secularism and Islamic appeasement, the Communist-ruled state under Pinarayi Vijayan has decided to give these teachers more time to get themselves vaccinated before any action is taken against them and it is presumed as a big “if”.

But what is even more alarming is that the Kerala government which became a model in its fight against the Coronavirus does not have the data of teachers who have not been inoculated

According to officials, most of these unvaccinated teachers have not even attended offline classes as the administration is trying to get rid of vaccine hesitancy amongst teachers who are predominantly Muslims. The atheist communists are now asking for help from religious leaders to convince these teachers about the advantage of getting vaccinated.

Recently, the Maharastra Maha Aghadi government asked Muslim Bollywood superstar Salman Khan to help educate Muslims to overcome vaccine hesitancy.

Meanwhile, Kerala continues to contribute the highest number of new active coronavirus cases in India and as per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Kerala has 1,500 new cases while the total number of new cases in India stood at 1,832.
