Keral CM Pinarayi Vijayan finds himself in the middle of another controversy, this time over a ‘forged signature’

After getting mired in the sensational Kerala gold smuggling case, another controversy has knocked the doors of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The Kerala BJP has alleged that the signature of CM Pinarayi Vijayan was forged on a government file when he was away for getting treatment in 2018.

BJP Spokesperson Sandeep Warrier showed documents pertaining to the celebrations of Malayalam Language Day and alleged that the signature in the document was a forged one.

Reportedly, CM Pinarayi Vijayan was in the United States from September 2 to 23 in 2018. But the file shows that the letter was signed by the Chief Minister on September 9.

Sandeep Warrier has asked how the Chief Minister signed the document when he was not in Kerala. He alleged that someone else has signed the document and also said that the signature is not an e-signature.

He took a jibe at CM Pinarayi VIjayan asking ‘whether any contract has been given to any consultancy to sign’, in an apparent reference to the Kerala gold smuggling case kingpin Swapna Suresh who worked as a consultant to one of the offices under the state government’s Information Technology ministry, which was held by CM Pinarayi Vijayan.

Sandeep Warrier also called for examining all the files signed by the Chief Minister. However, Pinarayi Vijayan has responded to the allegations saying that the files were disposed electronically and it was he who had signed the documents and not an imposter. He said that he has been using the e-office facility whenever he was away from office.
