Kempegowda International Airport becomes first airport in South Asia to have disabled aircraft recovery kit

Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru has become the first airport in India as well as in South Asia recently to have installed a disabled aircraft recovery kit, reports Financial Express.

Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) was quoted as saying, “The kit includes ground preparation tools, de-bogging, aircraft lifting, towing, tethering, along with all other associated aspects of both narrow as well as wide-body aircraft”.

This technology will now enable this airport with recovering Code F-compatible aircraft during any aircraft incident on the runway.

BIAL had signed a deal last year with German aircraft recovery kit maker Kunz GmbH to manufacture, commission, supply as well as maintain this specialized equipment.

BIAL has formed a task force that will undergo extensive hands-on training at the state-of-the-art recovery training facility of Kunz GmBh for a quick response recovery team to address critical situations.
