The Kamarajar bust located at Vallurinimadam near Vetoornimadam in Nagercoil, Kanyakumari District was found defaced by unknown miscreants on July 2.
The face of the Kamarajar statue was seen broken.
Members from the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee upon hearing about the incident went to the statue.
Kanyakumari MP Vasanthakumar led a protest demanding the arrest of the man who damaged the statue.
Congress MLAs including Vijayadharani, Rajeshkumar and Kanyakumari East District Congress leader Radhakrishnan participated in the protest.
Later, a complaint was filed with the Kanyakumari District Collector Prashanth M Vadanere to take action.
The incident has now created a ripple in the surrounding regions.
