Chennai-based Raasi Builders has emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) in all three tenders floated by the Public Works Department (PWD) for the renovation of Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay’s sea-facing office on the 10th floor of Namakkal Kavignar Maligai, as reported in Times of India.
The PWD had floated three separate tenders for interior and related works in Blocks 1, 2 and 3 of the Chief Minister’s office. The combined estimated cost of the three projects was ₹5.54 crore.
Four contractors participated in all three tenders, with Raasi Builders emerging as the L1 bidder in each.
For Block 1, estimated at ₹2.41 crore, Raasi Builders quoted ₹1.66 crore. For Block 2, estimated at ₹2.01 crore, it quoted ₹1.37 crore. For Block 3, estimated at ₹1.12 crore, the firm quoted ₹74.94 lakh.
The total quoted value comes to around ₹3.78 crore, approximately 32% below the government’s estimated project cost of ₹5.54 crore.
The other three contractors who participated in all three tenders were Eswari Constructions, M Cube Infra and Shri Raghavendra Builders.
A fifth bidder, Yudek Engineering, was eliminated during the technical evaluation stage in all three tenders.
The scope of work includes interior design and related works for the Chief Minister’s workspace and the conference hall on the 10th floor. Officials said the award of the contracts is expected to be finalised soon.
Raasi Builders is a Chennai-based construction company whose reported clients include Puravankara, Nalli Silks, Menaka Cards and Anil Reddy, a YSRCP general secretary, among others, as mentioned in their own website.
The tender process follows the PWD’s decision to undertake renovation of the newly designated sea-view office for the Chief Minister at Namakkal Kavignar Maligai.
