According to reports, Kandeeban was arrested in a ganja-related case and released on bail shortly before his candidature was announced. Residents have also alleged that multiple cases including serious charges such as murder, attempted murder, robbery, assault, and kidnapping are pending against him.
He has been given a ticket for the Peravurani constituency.
