A series of allegations have surfaced against candidates of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), the party led by Joseph Vijay, raising questions about its candidate selection process ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2026.
In the latest development, a sexual harassment complaint has been filed against TVK’s candidate for the Poonamallee constituency, Prakasam Kutty. The complaint was submitted by a woman associated with the party’s women’s wing at the office of the Thiruvallur District Superintendent of Police, as reported in Tamil Samayam.
According to the complaint, the woman alleged that she had faced sexual harassment from the candidate and had previously brought the issue to the attention of the party leadership nearly six months ago. She stated that no action was taken at the time.

The controversy comes amid growing internal dissatisfaction within TVK, where several aspirants who were denied tickets have reportedly expressed displeasure. Protests have also been reported in multiple constituencies against candidates announced by the party.
TVK, which entered the political arena positioning itself as an alternative to both the DMK and the AIADMK, has also faced criticism over its candidate list. A significant number of its nominees are reported to be defectors from other parties, prompting questions about the party’s claim of representing political change.
With multiple allegations now emerging against its candidates, the latest complaint has intensified scrutiny on the party leadership. Observers have noted that Vijay, who has frequently spoken about women’s safety in public platforms, is yet to publicly respond to the issue.
