The Edappadi K. Palaniswami led AIADMK has officially left the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), citing the recent remarks by BJP Tamil Nadu President K. Annamalai as the reason.
The AIADMK held a consultative meeting with the party’s senior leaders, district secretaries, MLAs on 25 September 2023 and passed a resolution to exit from the NDA.
“For the past 1 year, the state leadership of the BJP has been deliberately defaming the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, our revered leaders Anna and Amma with ulterior motives.”, the resolution said.
It further added that the state leadership (Annamalai) has been belittling the massive public meeting that happened in Madurai on 20 August 2023 and defaming Edappadi K. Palaniswami.
“In light of this, the consultative meeting of party secretaries, district secretaries, party MP and MLAs held on 25 September 2023 and presided by Leader of Opposition, former Chief Minister, Puratchi Tazmizhar Edappadi K. Palaniswami, valuing the sentiments of the 2 crore cadres has unianimously decided that the AIADMK is withdrawing itself from the National Democratic Alliance and the BJP.”, the resolution read.
