Earlier the Tamil media went into a frenzy after it was reported that Actor Joseph Vijay was entering electoral politics and had registered a political party with the name ‘Agila India Thalapathy Vijay Makkal Iyakkam’.
However, the actor’s father has now clarified that it was he who has applied for the registration of a political party with the Election Commission in the name of ‘All India Thalapathy Vijay Makkal Iyakkam’.
He said that it was his own initiative and not Vijay’s political party and remained cryptic about Vijay joining the party. “I can’t comment whether he will enter electoral politics”, he said to the press.
“Many youngsters are doing several good things in Vijay’s name. I want them to have some recognition. Hence the move,” he said.
Actor Joseph Vijay has been flexing his political muscle for quite some. He has been resorting to posturing himself akin to former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu MGR in his movies. He has also been using the stage of his movies’ audio launch to make polticial statements taking a sly dig at the present regime at the State and the Centre.
