Islamist & Self-Styled Fact-Checker Mohammed Zubair Dog-Whistles Against JNU Prof. Anand Ranganathan

Fabricating false stories, distorting others’ statements to stir up controversy, and deriving satisfaction from it seems to be the primary occupation of the self-proclaimed alleged fact-checker Mohammed Zubair. Recently, he concocted a narrative attributed to Anand Ranganathan, a professor from JNU, which was never actually spoken by him. Zubair seized this opportunity to portray himself as an audacious defender of the community, shamelessly manipulating the situation to his advantage.

Anand Ranganathan, a JNU professor, author, and commentator, recently stirred controversy by proposing an approach similar to that of Israel to address the issues India faces in Kashmir. His remarks came during a discussion hosted by ANI Editor Smita Prakash, alongside co-panelists Abhijit Iyer-Mitra, Sushant Sareen, and Tehseen Poonawala.

During the conversation, Ranganathan expressed his dissatisfaction with the current situation in Kashmir and criticized previous policies. He stated, “I am not enthused by Kashmir at all. I don’t want to visit it. All our policies, cutting across governments, have failed us Indians,” He highlighted the plight of Kashmiri Hindus and criticized what he perceived as a false impression of normalcy created by tourism statistics, emphasizing,”You haven’t rehabilitated 7 lakh Kashmiri Hindus. All the money coming from the tourists is going to the terrorists. This terrorism/militancy and whatever you call it is going to continue.”

Ranganathan proposed the necessity for a solution akin to Israel’s, which would involve constructing settlements, combating terrorism, and fortifying borders. He commented, “You need an Israel-like solution to Kashmir. The fact that Israel is unable to solve it is not because Israel is not acting to solve it. Israel has catered to its people, but we haven’t.”

Almost instantly, opportunists, hungry for advantage, began to exploit him, yet he remained steadfast clarified his position on his X handle, stating, “Calling for an Israel-like solution—rehabilitating the victims, making settlements, fighting terror, securing borders—is not calling for genocide; it is calling for preventing another genocide. I stand by Israel. I stand by Kashmiri Hindus. And I stand by every single word.”

But the famous purveyor of false information, Mohammed Zubair, has to come into the picture. He distorted Ranganathan’s proposal to combat terrorism in the region and initiate the rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits with his trademark spin. He concocted his own narrative, falsely claiming that Ranganathan openly advocated for the genocide of Kashmiris and consistently spread hatred against Muslims.

Mohammed Zubair stated, “You need an Israel-like solution to Kashmir” says A Ranganathan. Isn’t this an open call for genocide of Kashmiris? This English speaking Yati Naraginghanand regularly gets platforms on multiple news channels to spew venom against Muslims.

This isn’t the first instance that Zubair has dogwhistled in this manner. He carried out the exact same methodology to fuel communal tensions and calling for the arrest of Nupur Sharma through his unfounded and provocative propaganda. This alleged fact-checker, known for spreading hatred and sowing division in society, masquerades as a supporter of Muslims and the Congress, persistently advancing their narrative without restraint.
