Indic Collective to approach SC for deployment of central forces in West Bengal

Amid continuing reports of widespread violence against not only workers and sympathisers of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), but all Hindus in West Bengal, ‘Indic Collective’, a registered trust which pursues legal actions on Hindu issues, has decided to approach the Supreme Court in this matter.

The Indic Collective will ask the apex court to deploy central security forces in an attempt to put an end to the violence in the state.

“Deeply disturbed by the violent aftermath of the elections in West Bengal, we have decided to approach the Supreme Court, asking for central security forces to be deployed to put an end to the political violence,” Indic Collective tweeted.

The West Bengal BJP cadre has been at the receiving end of major coordinated attacks following the assembly election results in West Bengal.

The BJP’s party offices in various parts of the state have been vandalised and set ablaze, and many workers and their properties have been attacked. The saffron party has alleged it to be the handiwork of TMC workers.

At least six BJP workers have been killed in the state so far. The party has alleged that its women poll workers have been gangraped and many women molested in Birbhum.

Meanwhile, the  BJP has announced that it will hold a nationwide dharna on 5 May (Wednesday) against “the widespread violence unleashed by TMC workers post the election results in West Bengal”.
