India’s Investment In Water Sector To Be Highest In World By 2024: Union Minister Shekhawat At Isha Insight 2022

“India’s estimated investment in the water sector from 2019 to 2024 at $210 billion is the highest in the world,” said Union Jal Shakti Minister Mr. Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, further sharing that access to tap has now grown to 54% from 16% of Indian Households in 2019.

Isha Yoga Center in Coimbatore hosted a four-day business leadership intensive program “Isha Insight: The DNA of Success”. The Hon’ble Minister was amongst the illustrious set of speakers who shared their deep insights with close to 200 business leaders who participated in this year’s Isha Insight.

The Jal Shakti Minister provided deep insight into how the Central government was prioritizing and pacing Jal Jeevan Mission which aims to provide safe and adequate drinking water through individual household tap connections to all households in rural India by 2024.

To ensure water quality in the rural parts, the ministry is engaging the rural community and leveraging technology to craft innovative solutions. It embarked on creating water and sanitation committees in each and every village. “We started training the ladies in the villages and gave them hand-held devices to test the quality on all basic 12 parameters. They can test the water in their village frequently,” he informed.

The event, which took place from November 24 to November 27, also included meditation sessions, and lectures by Sadhguru. Additionally, several top business leaders participated and offered leadership and business advice.

The director of the Himalayan Institute of Alternatives (HIAL), Mr. Sonam Wangchuck, was one of the most eagerly anticipated speakers. He is renowned for his ideas and interventions in the field of education and his life story inspired the Bollywood film 3 Idiots.

“Entrepreneurs to me are not people who just keep making more and more money. Entrepreneurs are problem solvers. If you’re not a problem solver, you’re not an entrepreneur. Second, even if you’re making money and solving a problem, you’re not a good entrepreneur. You need to help others move forward with you. That’s when you are a true entrepreneur.”

Kunal Bahl, Co-Founder, AceVector Group (Snapdeal, Unicommerce and Stellaro) said, “In the next 20 years, the majority of software products purchased worldwide will be #MadeInIndia…No country in the world is as digitized as ours. UPI or NDC Aadhaar, or Account Aggregator India Stake, India Health Stake – these are unheard of by anyone around the world outside India. This is just a start for us. We are feeling invigorated and excited about the future. What a time to be alive in India right now!”

Chandra Shekhar Ghosh, MD and CEO, Bandhan Bank, captivated the participants with his grassroot, conventional wisdom acquired while building a Bank from the scratch.
