Indian origin teen from Sharjah excels in both Bharatnatyam and Carnatic music

Prakriti Suresh, a 13-year-old girl living in Sharjah, is a Carnatic singer and Bharatanatyam artist. Originally from Trichy, Tamil Nadu, she excels in singing Tamil songs.

She is currently studying Carnatic music with Dr. Amruta Sankaranarayanan, who is Dr Mani Iyer’s cousin and daughter of Padma Bhushan TV Sankaranarayanan. She has also been studying Bharatanatyam for the last 9 years. Bharatanatyam is being taught by Krish Kumar, a student from Vijayanthi Mala’s dance school, who is a famous actress and dancer.

Prakriti Suresh has several feathers to her hat, as she is the recipient of the Geronimo Stilton Foundation Award for promoting Tamil culture and traditional arts in Sharjah. The award was presented to her at the International Sharjah Book Festival. Prakriti has sung Tamil songs on many international stages. She has also started a YouTube channel to propagate traditional Carnatic music around the world.

She has participated in Mayura Natyanjali and Mathura Natyanjali in Mayavaram and Thiruvidaimarudur. In 2019, she won the title at the Markazhi Festival held nationally in the United Arab Emirates. She has also participated in many international concerts and won numerous prizes.
