‘If Fat Increases, It Will Be Good Only😂”: DMK Min Mano Thangaraj Tells Woman Journalist, Later Says He Didn’t Mean “That Fat”

DMK Minister Mano Thangaraj, who holds the portfolio of dairy development, has of late found himself mired in one controversy after another. He been facing the ire of Tamil Nadu Opposition parties and the common people due to the non-availability of Aavin milk in the aftermath of the recent floods that deluged Chennai due to cyclone Michaung. Prior to that, he was being lambasted over the discontinuance of Aavin Standardised milk (Green Magic) which has a higher fat content of 4.5% than the new Delight packet (3.5% fat) that is to replace the former.

Against this backdrop, DMK Minister Mano Thangaraj gave an interview to Thanthi TV anchored by the well-known journalist Ashoka Varshini.

When she asks about why the Aavin green packets were stopped, the DMK Minister says “What is your problem in that?

For instance, I buy green packets sir. It is good sir. Why are you stopping it is my question” says Ashoka Varshini to which the DMK Minister jokingly says “If fat increases, it will be good only😂” and goes on to laugh.

A visible agitated Ashoka Varshini then says “It is my wish sir. I will consume 4.5% fat or 3% fat. You can’t decide that. What sort of a comment is – ‘if fat increases, it will be good only’. I don’t understand.“.

Realizing that his comment did not land well, the DMK Minister goes on to clarify “I didn’t mean that fat. I meant the real fat.“.

If you add fat in your food, it will be tasty. I am the Minister of Dairy Development. Don’t I have the right to tell my people which is good?“, the DMK Minister says and goes on to claim that cow’s milk on an average contains 3.5% which is what people prefer and that the they do not want extra fat added milk.

This distasteful innuendo of the DMK Minister has once again landed him in soup with many on social media calling it sexist and perverted.

The interview was aired on 10 December 2023 but none of the so-called feminists and champions of women have come forward to condemn the DMK Minister’s comments.
