Idols of Tirupur Nagathamman Temple desecrated; Hindu Munnani files complaint

There is a Nagathamman temple on the way to Yasin Babu street in Tirupur. On Saturday, a mysterious group of people entered the temple and desecrated the Vinayaga, Karupparayan Swamy idols and even the Vel in the premises.

The temple priest, Nagaraj, was shocked on seeing the idols destroyed when he opened the temple the next morning. As soon as word about the matter spread, the members of the Hindu Munnani Eastern Union gathered at the temple. Following this, a complaint was placed with the Nallur Police Station.

On filing the complaint, the Tahsildar, Nallur’s Inspector Ramesh and Revenue Officer who went to the spot, consoled the members of Hindu Munnani. They have also assured to immediately arrest those who have desecrated the temple property. In addition, the Police have also started investigating whether the perpetrators have come to the temple only to destroy the idols or to also steal temple property as well.
